Tegmark also urged governments to take action on open-source AI models that can be accessed and adapted by members of the public. Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta recently released an open-source large language model, called Llama 2, and was warned by one UK expert that such a move was akin to “giving people a template to build a nuclear bomb”.

It took several hundred people to build the nuclear bomb and for a reason. Something open source however dangerous, is safer to track than something in strictly private hands…i fear private hands more my readers,. They are prone to prejudice, evil, harm and too much greed. It’s like saying allowing Linux to exist is dangerous for OS in computation than allowing monetarily inclined OS to exist.
